Field Research Assistant


Job Description

The position of field assistant will carry the following responsibilities:

·         Assist with field recce work and set up of field equipment inclusive of remote cameras.

·         Regular monitoring of field equipment in and off field.

·         Biodiversity transects and scat/sign collection.

·         Possible GPS mapping as required.

·         Maintain field station and field vehicle in an orderly manner and attend to repairs/servicing.

·         Ensure data collected is properly logged and maintained for transfer to office data base.

·         Assist with student work as required.

·         Assist with other WWCT work such as awareness programmes.

·         Ensure contact is maintained with primary WWCT researchers while in the field.


·         Ability to drive a standard gear shift field vehicle (double cab/jeep) on off road conditions. 

·         Possess a valid driving licence.

·         University degree or diploma or interest in wildlife/biological sciences with field experience

an added advantage.

·         Ability to converse in all 3 languages an added advantage but not a requirement.

·         This is a field based job and is based out of the WWCT field stations.

A monthly stipend plus expenses for food and board during field time will be provided.  Period of work will be initially for a six month period with a longer term renewal option based on performance.
