ABOUT WWCT

The WWCT was established in 2004. The founding work of this trust is the Leopard Project, which was initiated in 2000.

The founder members of the Trust as well as the Primary Researchers are Andrew. M. Kittle and Anjali. C. Watson – a husband and wife team of wildlife researchers.

In keeping with the Trusts Mandate, research assistants who have so far been a part of the Trusts work are wildlife rangers, trackers and forest guards. Local villagers in the vicinity of study sites have also been associated to varying degrees. Currently a University of Colombo student is involved in laboratory analysis work.

In future the trust will also train local students and other interested individuals who will work as research assistants within the Trusts project work.

The WWCT also believes in collaborative work with other organizations and individuals involved in similar work and as such continues to work closely with researchers involved in other species research.

Most work conducted by the WWCT is in conjunction with the Government of Sri Lanka Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Wildlife Conservation and Forest Department.
