To protect our Wildlife we must conserve our Wilderness and for our Wilderness to be meaningful our Wildlife must be able to roam free within it.
Mandate: To preserve, protect and create wilderness areas specifically on the island of Sri Lanka and to protect and conserve its wildlife populations. To be a Trust involved in international wilderness and wildlife conservation and to actively promote the establishment and protection of wilderness areas worldwide.
The Wilderness & Wildlife Conservation Trust fully believes in the ecosystemic approach to conservation.

Ecosystem preservation via stewardship of lands

Ecosystem indices - researching and documenting habitat types and ecosystems

Lobbying for protected area expansion and creation of new protected areas

Rehabilitation and reintroduction of specific species if and when necessary after careful research and investigation.

Investigation and promotion of forest links and corridors between protected areas and forest reserves.

Expansion of wilderness areas via reforestation of degraded lands and estate lands.

Investigation of the illegal trade in wildlife products

Awareness campaigns for conservation of wilderness and wildlife and working with local communities to ensure an equitable balance between the needs of people and the needs of wilderness and wildlife.

Training personnel in the research and conservation of wilderness and wildlife

Field research methodology training for students, wildlife/forest rangers

Establishment of research stations which will protect the wilderness areas in its vicinity and provide a base station for field research.
